Poems of the Retired Nihilist
Compiled by graham bendel
Fortune Teller Press are putting out a small collection of poetry in late October 2005.
The collection will include famous beat poets, renowned
punk innovators, overlooked Black poets, new underground names - and, er, Barbara
Cartland.
.
The collection is compliled by Graham Bendel, a journalist, who recently directed
"Billy Childish is Dead", a documentary about the infamous underground
artist/musician. This is to be screened at the ICA and Raindance, although it
is already out on DVD.
The collection features work by Sylvia Plath, Eric Bogosian (Oliver Stone's Talk Radio), Stevie Smith, Sir John Betjeman, GG Allin, Lord Alfred Douglas (Bosie), Charles Bukowski, Benjamin Zephaniah, Mervyn Peake and Richard Hell. There is also a long piece by Steven Berkoff - a poignant, explicit portrait of a lonely middle-aged woman.
.
Fortune Teller Press have previously released THE PUNK, a novella by Gideon Sams. This is a reissue of the legendary school project from 1977, written by a 14 year old school kid. And first published by Beat publisher Jay Landesman.
